2 Data We Collect

Account & Profile Data

• Name, email address, phone number, date of birth, gender
• Tribe, state, LGA, religion, relationship intent, bio, photos
• Selfie verification photos (used only for identity verification)
• Quiz answers and lifestyle tags

Usage Data

• Swipes, matches, messages, and calls made on the platform
• Pages visited, features used, time spent
• Device type, browser, IP address, approximate location

Payment Data

• We do not store your card details — payments processed by Paystack/Flutterwave (PCI-DSS compliant)
• We store transaction references and amounts for billing records

3 Legal Basis for Processing

• Contract: To provide you with dating services you signed up for
• Consent: For optional features like marketing emails and push notifications
• Legitimate interest: Fraud prevention, platform security, and product improvement
• Legal obligation: Compliance with Nigerian law

4 How We Use Your Data

• Show your profile to compatible matches based on your preferences
• Enable communication features (chat, calls, notifications)
• Process payments for subscriptions and coin purchases
• Verify your identity and prevent fraud
• Send service notifications and (with consent) marketing emails
• Improve the platform through analytics

5 Sensitive Data

Religious beliefs and tribal/ethnic identity are sensitive categories under NDPR. We collect this data solely to provide the matching filters you request. We do not share or sell this data to third parties and process it only with your explicit consent given at registration.

6 Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

• Paystack / Flutterwave — payment processing
• Pusher — real-time chat delivery
• OneSignal — push notifications
• Cloudinary — photo storage
• Agora — voice/video calls (only call metadata)
• Law enforcement — when legally required by Nigerian courts

All third-party processors are contractually bound to protect your data.

7 Data Retention

• Active account data: retained while your account exists
• Deleted account data: anonymised within 30 days of deletion request
• Chat messages: deleted 90 days after a match is unmatched
• Payment records: retained for 7 years (tax/legal compliance)
• Selfie verification photos: deleted after verification is complete

8 Your Rights Under NDPR

• Access — request a copy of your personal data
• Rectification — correct inaccurate data
• Erasure — request deletion ("right to be forgotten")
• Portability — receive your data in a portable format
• Objection — object to certain types of processing
• Withdraw consent — for marketing emails and push notifications

9 Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS/TLS encryption, bcrypt password hashing, prepared statements for all database queries, and session security. No system is 100% secure — please use a strong unique password and never share your login details.

10 Cookies

We use essential session cookies to keep you logged in. We also use analytics cookies (with your consent) to understand how the platform is used. You can control cookies in your browser settings.

11 Children's Privacy

LuckMate is strictly for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact privacy@luckmate.ng immediately.

12 Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in law or our practices. We will notify you by email or platform notice before significant changes take effect. Continued use of LuckMate after changes means you accept the new policy.
